The Association of Jewish Libraries (AJL) is a professional organization serving Judaica librarians from academic libraries, archival and research institutions, synagogue and community center libraries, and school libraries and media centers. AJL is an international organization with members in the United States, Canada, and 23 countries.
The South Florida Chapter of AJL (SFAJL), founded in 1973, provides local members with the opportunity to network with other professionals through meetings, special events, e-mail, and the Chapter newsletter. The Chapter hosted the national AJL Convention in 1975, 1991, and 1999.
Hai Gaon, head of the Bet Din in 998 C.E., said “Three possessions should you prize: a field, a friend, and a book.” We at SFAJL strive to prize and to celebrate the field of Judaica Librarianship, the friends we make at Chapter meetings, and the books for which we are the caretakers.
